Steps to Verify ITR Online Using SBI Net Banking

Filing an Income Tax Return (ITR) in India offers several advantages beyond just fulfilling your tax obligations. Filing an ITR can get you tax refunds, simplify loan applications, and serve as valid income proof. Read our comprehensive guide on the benefits of filing an ITR here.

Once you’ve completed the ITR filing process on Tax2win, a pop-up will appear on your screen, prompting you to e-verify your return within 30 days. You can conveniently e-verify using a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to a mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, banking, or D-mat account. If you choose to e-verify your ITR later, you can do so through the dashboard.

In this guide, we have covered how to e-verify ITR using SBI net-banking.

Step 1: Log on to the e-filing website
Go to the ‘e-file’ tab on the dashboard >> select ‘Income Tax Returns’ >> then select ‘e-verify return.’

Step 2: Please choose option ‘I would like to e-verify ITR by generating an electronic verification code (EVC) through net banking and click on continue.

Step 3: Once you select the Net Banking option, the steps for e-verification using net banking will be shown. Go through them & after that, click on the “Continue” button.

You will be redirected to the screen where all the banks approved by the Income Tax Department for e-verification of ITR through Net Banking will be shown. Click on the “State Bank of India.”

Step 4: You will be redirected to the SBI login page; enter your Username & Password. After this, click on the Login button.

Step 5: On the dashboard, select “e-Tax” and from the drop-down menu, click on “Direct Taxes”. Then on the next page, from the left-hand side, select “Login to e-Filing/ e-Verify”.

Step 6: Here at the login page, click on the “Submit” button. In 5-10 seconds, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number with the bank. Enter this OTP & click on the “Confirm” button.

Step 7: Now you are redirected and logged into your account at the Income Tax filing website.


Step 8: On successful login, you will be redirected to the e-filing dashboard on the e-filing website. Select the respective ITR form/Services and click e-verify. Your ITR/Form/ Service will be e-verified successfully.

Once you click the file now button. Congratulations! Your ITR is now successfully verified & the message will be shown as on screen.

Q- How can I check my ITR status manually?

After filing your ITR, there are two ways to check its status. Under the first method, on the homepage of the e-filing website, you'll find the option to check the ITR Status. After clicking on it, you'll be required to fill out the PAN number, ITR acknowledgment number, and the captcha code. Click on submit, and the status of your ITR will be displayed on the screen. Under the second method, Login to the e-filing website, then 'View Returns / Forms'. select income tax returns and assessment year from the dropdown menu. Q- How can I check my ITR V status?

Go to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. Under the 'Quick Links' tab, click on ITR Status. Provide your PAN details and acknowledgment no. on the page which has appeared on the screen. After that, you will be able to view the status.


Q- How can I check if my tax return has been processed?

The income tax return status can be checked in two ways. First, on the homepage of the e-filing website, on the extreme left under the services tab, you'll find the option to check the ITR Status. After clicking on 'ITR Status,' you have to fill out your PAN number, ITR acknowledgment number and the captcha code and submit; the status will be displayed on your screen. In the second method, Login to the e-filing website, and on the dashboard, you'll see an option 'View Returns / Forms.' SBI provides a facility for TDS inquiry to generate the details of tax deducted from your deposit account during the previous financial year or projected tax for the current financial year.


Q- What is ITR V in income tax?

ITR-V is the acronym for the ‘Income Tax Return–Verification’ Form. It is a single page document that is received when an ITR is filed online without using a digital signature. ITR-V is provided by the Income Tax Department to verify the authenticity of income tax returns and is sent by email to the taxpayer. There is a facility to download your ITR V again. The ITR V should be signed with a blue pen and should be submitted to the CPC.


Q- How can I check my tax return through an ATM?

The income tax department offers the facility to generate codes through selected bank ATMs. Currently, only six banks have this facility. Follow these steps to check your income tax return through ATM.

  • To generate an EVC ATM and swipe the ATM card.
  • Select 'Pin for Income Tax filing'.
  • A code will be sent to your registered mobile number. This EVC is valid for 72 hours.
  • Login to your income tax portal.
  • Go to the 'e-verify returns' option.
  • Select the ITR to verify it and select the option 'Already generated EVC through bank ATM.'
  • Enter the EVC, and your tax return will be verified.

Q- How long does it take to validate a bank account for ITR?

Your bank receives your request after you submit it. Within 10 - 12 working days, your e-Filing account will show the updated validation status.


Q- Is it mandatory to show all bank accounts in ITR?

The Income-tax Department requires you to add your bank details when you file your tax returns. This is because they used to ask for one bank account number to process your refund. Since 2015, they have made it compulsory for all taxpayers to reveal all their bank accounts in their tax returns.
