There are two ways through which you can link your aadhaar with PF account. They are:

  • via online mode and,
  • offline mode.

Linking Aadhaar via Online mode:

Linking aadhaar to UAN will facilitate faster withdrawals and quick transfer process. But to avail these faster services, it is important that your details are being verified by your employer.

You should be able to see a screen similar to this

  • On the right side of the screen, log in using your UAN number and password. Enter the captcha code and sign in your account
  • After signing in, click on ‘Manage’ option from the top panel and then select ‘KYC’ from the drop-down menu
  • Under ‘Add KYC tab’ provided on the next page, provide the portal with your bank account details along with PAN, Aadhaar, Passport, Driving license, election card and ration card details. In the end, click on ‘submit’
  • After submitting, you can check for these details under the ‘pending KYC’ option. It needs to be approved by your employer which can generally take up to 15 days. But once it’s approved by your employer, the details will be shown under ‘Approved KYC’ tab.

Linking Aadhaar via offline mode:

EPFO has come up with this initiative of linking Aadhaar to the PF account via offline mode.

  • You (the employee) need to fill in ‘Aadhaar Linking application’ and fill in all the necessary details including your UAN and Aadhaar number
  • With the form, you need to attach self-attested copies of the following documents: PAN, UAN, and Aadhaar
  • Post your form is ready with all the documents, submit the form either at the field offices of Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) or at the Common Services Centres (CSC)
  • Once all your documents have been verified, Aadhaar will be linked to your PF account and you will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number

Benefits and Features of using Universal Account Number (UAN)

Both employers and employees can benefit from using the Universal Account Number. How UAN benefits are mentioned below:

  • When you change your job, it is important that you are linking your new PF account to your UAN so that EPFO can update the information in its own database.
  • Changes in the employee’s job can be tracked by EPFO with the help of UAN.
  • PF accounts of all employees are checked by UAN for reliability.

  • Employee data is centralised with the help of the Universal Account Number.
  • With the help of this number, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has reduced the burden of employee verification for the employer and their respective companies.
