Check TDS Return Status on TIN NSDL Portal

Updated on: 16 Jan, 2024 05:49 PM

Any entity or individual who deducts TDS must file TDS return quarterly and deposit it to the Government. TDS is a type of direct tax in India, and the deductor sets aside a part of the payment as tax before making certain payments to the recipient. After filing TDS return, the deductor can check the status of TDS return on the TIN NSDL official portal. If you have filed a TDS return and need help checking the NSDL TDS return status, let us help you with the NSDL TDS return status.

How to check NSDL TDS return status?

The TIN NSDL Portal has moved the option to check the TDS return status. You can no longer find it under > Status of Tax Refunds. To check the TDS return status on the portal, follow these steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q- Is it possible to file an e-TDS statement without a TAN or in the absence of a TAN allotment?

The mention of a TAN is mandatory in both TDS and TCS returns. Any returns, whether submitted in paper or electronic format, will not be accepted if the TAN is not provided.

Q- Who should I get in touch with if the dispatched refund hasn't been received?

Refunds dispatched via speed-post can be tracked using the assigned tracking number. This tracking number is available on the TIN NSDL's refund status track view. Alternatively, taxpayers can contact their local post office with the tracking number provided on the TIN NSDL.

Q- Why does my TIN NSDL status indicate that interest has been deducted from my refund?

The TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) under section 195 was deducted from the interest income paid to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) during the determination of refunds under section 244A. For further information, please reach out to the Assessing Officer of the relevant Ward where you filed your return or contact CPC Bangalore in case of an online filing.
