How to Download MSME Registration Certificate?

MSMEs, representing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, are the backbone of India's economic development. These are also known as Small Scale Industries (SSIs). By providing job opportunities, promoting creativity, and fostering entrepreneurship, they empower numerous individuals throughout the nation to pursue and achieve their aspirations to the utmost degree. Small-scale industries or SSIs can benefit from various schemes and incentives offered by the government if they register as MSMEs under the MSME Act.

About MSME

The MSME Act categorizes enterprises into Micro, Small, or Medium based on their investment and annual turnover. Micro Enterprise, Where the investment in Plant & Machinery or Equipment does not exceed one crore rupees, and turnover does not exceed five crore rupees. Small Enterprise, Where the investment in Plant & Machinery or Equipment does not exceed ten crore rupees and turnover does not exceed fifty crore rupees. Medium Enterprise, Where the investment in Plant & Machinery or Equipment does not exceed twenty crore rupees and turnover does not exceed hundred crore rupees.


What is an Udhyam or MSME certificate?

If you run a micro, small, or medium enterprise in India, you can register with the government and get a certificate called the MSME Certificate or Udyam Certificate.

The MSME Certificate shows that you are a recognized small-scale business in India and can access all the government benefits for this sector.

MSME registration is optional, but it is advisable to do it for various reasons like in terms of business finance, loans, credit eligibility, and taxation.

The government has disbursed a total of Rs.9.5 trillion in loans to MSMEs in FY21, which is a 40% increase from FY20. Additionally, various government schemes and policies are in place to support the growth and development of MSMEs in India.


Eligibility Criteria for MSME Registration

MSME, an acronym for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, categorizes businesses based on investment and turnover. This revised system for classifying MSMEs, based on both investment in plant and machinery/equipment and annual turnover, took effect on July 1st, 2020. It applies equally to both manufacturing and service enterprises.

  • Aadhar Card of the authorized signatory or PAN card.
  • Proof of Business Address (e.g., Electricity Bill, Telephone Bill, etc.).
  • Copies of Sale Bill and Purchase Bill.
  • Partnership Deed/ Memorandum of Association (MOA) and Articles of Association (AOA) for companies.
  • Copy of Licenses and Bills of Machinery Purchased (if applicable).
  • Copy of GST Registration Certificate (if applicable).
  • Details of the Plant and Machinery used in the manufacturing process.
  • Income Tax Returns filed for the previous financial year.
  • Bank Account Statement of the company or proprietor.

How to Download MSME Certificate Online?

The MSME certificate, also known as Udyam or Udyog Aadhaar Certificate, is valid for a lifetime. To download your MSME certificate from the Udyam Registration website, simply follow these easy steps. To avail yourself of the benefits announced by the government for MSMEs, you must register your business on the ‘Udyog Aadhar Memorandum (UAM) portal’. Fortunately, the Udyog Aadhaar Registration process is simple and completely free of cost for all.

  1. Go to the Udyam link https://udyamregistration.gov.in/
  2. On the top right corner of the home page, you will see a Print/Verify drop-down menu.
  3. From the drop-down menu, choose the option Print Udyam Certificate.
  4. This will take you to the Udyami Login page.
  5. Fill in the details on the login page, such as your 16-digit Udyam Registration Number (URN) (format: UDYAM-XX-00-0000000) and the mobile number you used for the MSME registration application.
  6. Below these fields, choose one of the OTP options.
    • OTP on Mobile
    • OTP on Email
  7. Choose the option that suits you better and click Validate & Generate OTP.
  8. In the next step, enter the OTP and click Validate OTP & Print.
  9. You can now see your Udyog Aadhaar Certificate data on the home screen.
  10. To get a printed certificate copy, choose either Print or Print with Annexure from the top center of the page.
    • If you select only the Print option, you will get only the MSME certificate.
    • If you select Print with Annexure, you will also get the Udyam Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) application along with the certificate.
