  • Step 1. Visit Intellectual Property India’s official site and click on Trademark Application/Registered Mark at the left side of the webpage.
  • Step 2. On the next page, select the option ‘National/IRDI number. On the next page asks you to enter the trademark application number and the captcha.
  • Step 3. In this step, fill the blank spaces for trademark application number and the captcha, and then click on ‘View.’
  • Step 4. Once you click on ‘View,’ you are shown your trademark application status on the next page. It also consists of the applicant’s details like the application number, class, date, location, trademark name, company description, product/brand description, etc.

Here are the steps to download a TM certificate -

  • Step 1. Visit the official website of the trademarks registry
  • Step 2. Click on Trademark application/registered mark > Select National/IRDI number.
  • Step 3. Enter the Trademark application number and the captcha
  • Step 4. Click on the trademark number
  • Step 5. Select ‘View registration Certificate.’
  • Step 6. The certificate opens in a new window. Click download button and save the document in PDF format.

Q- How much does a trademark cost in India?

The fee for trademark registration by a company, as specified by the government, is Rs.9000 per application through online mode or Rs.10000 per application physically, and for individuals, it is Rs.4500 for each application through online mode or Rs.5000 per application physically for every class.


Q- For how long can we use a trademark in India?

A trademark registered in India is valid for 10 years from the application filing date, as mentioned in section 25 of the Trademarks Act, 1999. However, the trademark registration can be renewed after expiry.

Jail of 6 months to 3 years and a penalty of Rs.50,000 to Rs.2,00,000 can be imposed if any trademark misuse occurs.
