How to Download e-Aadhaar card online from UIDAI?

In today’s time, Aadhaar works as a basic identity proof document. Also, with the Supreme Court’s recent verdict, the validity of Aadhaar has been upheld. As per the pronouncement, Aadhaar needs to be mandatorily linked with PAN for the filing of Income Tax returns (section 139AA of the Income Tax Act 1961) and availing Government subsidies Also, in the decision made amendments to the voluntary use of Aadhaar by the Banks and Telecom Companies has been accepted. Before we go ahead with the process of downloading the Aadhaar card, let us understand one more important concept. UIDAI gives you the option to download

  • Regular Aadhaar
  • Masked Aadhar

Regular Aadhaar is your normal copy of your Aadhaar card, whereas masked Aadhaar has the digits of your Aadhaar masked (i.e. hidden). Only the last four digits in the masked aadhaar can be viewed. Masked aadhaar is used in case the person does not want to share the details or keep their aadhaar number secret.

You can download an e-Aadhaar using a few steps and a single OTP that would be sent to your registered phone number.

  • Visit one of the UIDAI websites, either https://uidai.gov.in/ or https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Move the cursor to My Aadhaar Tab and click on Download Aadhaar. UIDAI websites

  • Enter the displayed CAPTCHA and click on ‘Send OTP’ to generate an OTP (One-Time Password).
