AADHAR (UIDAI)
For establishing unique identification of every single person, UIDAI (Unique Identification authority of India) on behalf of government of India created a centralised database for collecting the biometric and demographic data of residents, and issued a unique 12- digit number known as AADHAR Number. Aadhar is a proof of identity and address, valid for lifetime. It is issued in the form of a letter which is delivered via post to the address mentioned in the application.

How to enroll for Aadhar?
Go to any of the authorised Aadhar enrollment center anywhere in India. At the center fill in your personal details in the form. Your personal details also include your photograph, finger-prints and iris scan. The enrollment application requires proof of identity, proof of address , proof of D.O.B and proof of relationship documents relating to family. Even if a member of family does not have individual documents, still he can enroll on basisi of his family entitlement documents. Once enrolled, a temporary acknowledgment is created and based on that Aadhar number is generated and mailed. The waiting time of aadhar varies from 60-90 days.
