VALIDATION OF TAX RETURNS THROUGH EVC ALLOWED FOR AY 2014-15 AS WELL !

Income tax department [vide its circular no 41/2015 dated 15.04.2015 issued by CBDT] announced that taxpayers who filed their income tax returns online will no longer have to send the paper acknowledgement by post to CPC Bangalore, if they have aadhar card which can be used for verification purpose.

Instead of manual verification, a new Electronic Verification Code has been introduced to verify the e-return.

In case of returns for Assessment year’s 2013-14 and 2014-15 filed electronically (without digital signature certificate ) between 01.04.2014 to 31.03.2015, time limit for submission of ITR v to CPC has alreday been extended till 31.10.2015.Further for the convenience of the taxpayers, CBDT has released further cicular clarifying that returns which are filed on or after 01st April 2015 can be e-verified by EVC. These may include returns pertaining to assessment year 2013-14 and assessment year 2014-15 or may be returns filed in pursuance to notice/ condonation of delay under the sec 119 of the Income Tax Act.

Verification through EVC can be done by 3 methods:

  • EVC through Net Banking
  • EVC through Aadhar card
  • EVC through code generation (OTP )
