1 First and foremost you are required to open the income tax India efiling government website which is https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home

3 On the right side top panel, you will see three options to

Register Yourself – In case you are using the Income Tax India E filing account, you are required to first register yourself on the government e-fling website.

Login – If you already have an account you can make direct login to the Income Tax online account. The steps to log in have been explained here in detail.

Reset password – In case you have already registered but you forgot to your login password. Follow these steps to reset the password..

4 The login page will appear where you would be required to enter details like

User ID – Which is your PAN number

Password – The password you set at the time of registering for Income Tax Login Online process

Captcha – This is 6 digit Alphabetic / Alpha Numeric random code which is required to be entered as shown in the image. Visually challenged users can alternatively seek to request OTP on their registered mobile number.

5 After successful login, you can see various options on Income Tax Login India website as stated below. As a word of caution, it is always suggested to log out your income tax e-filing account once you are done. Although the account automatically is logged out after 15 min of inactivity.

Q- How to view form 26AS without registration on e-filing website of income tax?

Form 26AS can only be viewed by registering and logging into e-filing website of income tax. There is no other way of viewing Form 26AS. The steps of viewing it have been provided in third FAQ on this page.


Q- What is the process for online registration on income tax efiling website?

One needs to follow the following steps to get registered on income tax efiling website:

  • Step 1: Visit https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • Step 2: Click on the “Register Yourself” button appearing on the top right hand corner of the page.
  • Step 3: Select the type of user you are such as individual, partnership, company, trust, etc and fill in other basic details as required such as PAN, name, DOB, etc.
  • Step 4: After submitting the above details, you will receive an email for verification of your email address. After completing the verification process, fill and submit certain details such as password, personal details, etc.
  • Step 5: A message “Registration successful”, an email along with an activation link and a SMS with OTP.
  • Step 6: Click on the activation link enter the OTP received to activate your account. Once these steps have been followed successfully, your account will be ready for income tax e-filing.

One can find out his/her TDS deduction details by viewing Form 26AS, which is issued by the income tax department.

  • 1. Visit www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and login to your account.

  • 3. Click on 'View Form 26AS'.

B) Resident and not ordinarily resident (RNOR),

C) Non resident. While almost the entire income from various sources of a ROR is taxable in India, the scope of taxability of income of RNOR is lower and for a non resident it ia the lowest. Hence, you will be considered as a taxpayer in India, if any part of your income for the financial year comes within the scope of taxable income depending on your residential status.
