All citizens of India and NRIs residing in India for more than 182 days are eligible to apply for an Aadhar Card. To enrol for Aadhar, visit the UIDAI website to find the nearest enrolment centre. Post offices and Bank branches have also been notified as centres. The application process begins by filling the application form. Proof of identity and residence and the biometric details must be submitted. An acknowledgement slip will be issued. Until the Aadhar number is allotted, this Enrolment ID (EID) can be used. The status of the Aadhar number can be checked online or offline. The toll-free helpline number is 1800-300-1947. The EID, registered mobile number and Enrolment date and time in the acknowledgement slip are required for verification.
