PF Transfer Form - Form 13
For the employees who have either switched their jobs or are looking to change their jobs, it is very important to understand the process of transferring their EPF account from the previous employer to the current employer. Form 13 is a mandatory form that the employee needs to file while transferring his/her PF account with the previous employer to the new employer.
What is PF Form 13?
EPF Form 13 lets you transfer your PF savings from your old employer to your new one without any deductions. The process requires you to simply fill out the form and get it approved by your employer.
You can access the form online or collect it from the EPFO office. Using the online option is quicker and more convenient. Make sure to download the latest version of Form 13 from the EPFO website.
What is the Transfer of EPF Account?
You can transfer your EPF account from one employer to another when you change jobs. As an EPF member, you receive a Universal Account Number (UAN), a unique ID that helps track your EPF account.
Each employee has a single EPF account linked to one UAN. When you switch jobs, you don’t need a new EPF account, your existing account is simply transferred to your new employer.
What is the Timeline for Applying for Form 13?
There is no specific deadline prescribed by the Income Tax Act for making an application under section 197. However, since TDS is calculated on the income of the current financial year, you must make the application at the beginning of the financial year in the case of regular income. Also, in the case of one-off income, you can make the application as and when the need arises.
