ITR-V: What It Is and How to Download the Form

What is ITR-V?

ITR-V is a short abbreviation of ‘Income Tax Return – Verification.’ ITR-V or ITR verification is a form that is used to check the authenticity of the Income Tax Return Filing when someone e-files the ITR form without using a digital signature / Aadhaar OTP/ EVC mode. ITR-V is generated once the ITR is successfully filed, and the Income Tax Department sends it to the registered e-mail address.

The Income Tax Department verifies the authenticity of an online ITR filing using the ITR verification form.

ITR-V or ITR verification is a one-page acknowledgment/receipt of the income tax return filed by the taxpayer. It needs to be signed and sent to the Income Tax Office in Bengaluru. The address of the Bengaluru office is “Income Tax Department – CPC, Post Box No – 1, Electronic City P. O., Bengaluru – 560500, Karnataka.
