What is ITR-V?
ITR-V is a short abbreviation of ‘Income Tax Return – Verification.’ ITR-V or ITR verification is a form that is used to check the authenticity of the Income Tax Return Filing when someone e-files the ITR form without using a digital signature / Aadhaar OTP/ EVC mode. ITR-V is generated once the ITR is successfully filed, and the Income Tax Department sends it to the registered e-mail address.
The Income Tax Department verifies the authenticity of an online ITR filing using the ITR verification form.
ITR-V or ITR verification is a one-page acknowledgment/receipt of the income tax return filed by the taxpayer. It needs to be signed and sent to the Income Tax Office in Bengaluru. The address of the Bengaluru office is “Income Tax Department – CPC, Post Box No – 1, Electronic City P. O., Bengaluru – 560500, Karnataka.
If you e-verify your return, there’s no need to physically send the ITR-V to the CPC in Bangalore. You can e-verify your ITR through several methods, including Aadhaar OTP, EVC (via a pre-validated bank or demat account), Net Banking, or Digital Signature Certificate (DSC). E-verification saves you the time taken by the physical transit of the ITR-V.

View Income tax Returns

Click on View Filed Returns

Now, download the ITR verification form for the relevant Assessment Year.

Note: The ITR-V or ITR verification form is compulsory to send in a sealed A-4 sized envelope to the address of the Bengaluru office mentioned above for a successful ITR filing. Caution is to be continued as the barcode printed potion should not be folded in the ITR-V form. Otherwise, the ITR acknowledgment will not be received.
