What is ITR-V?
ITR-V is a short abbreviation of ‘Income Tax Return – Verification.’ ITR-V or ITR verification is a form that is used to check the authenticity of the Income Tax Return Filing when someone e-files the ITR form without using a digital signature / Aadhaar OTP/ EVC mode.
The income Tax Department verifies the authenticity of an online ITR filing using the ITR verification form.
ITR-V or ITR verification is a one-page acknowledgement / receipt of the income tax return filed by taxpayer. It needs to be signed and sent to Income Tax Office in Bengaluru. The address of the Bengaluru office is “Income Tax Department – CPC, Post Box No – 1, Electronic City P. O., Bengaluru – 560500, Karnataka.
These days electronic verification option has also been given under which a hard copy is not required to be sent.
A specimen of ITR acknowledgement generated after the successful filing of the ITR Form / Income tax return has been attached for your reference. The Income Tax Department will send an ITR acknowledgement via an e-mail on the registered mail-id with the receipt of the signed copy of the ITR-V form.

The steps to get the ITR-V form are as follows:

- Visit e-file section
- View Income tax Returns
- Click on view filed Returns
- Lastly, download the ITR verification form for the relevant Assessment Year.
